Training for Individuals

Open (public) courses


We offer regular Open programs in Advanced Negotiation Skills and our Next Steps program across the US and North America (and the rest of the World, click here to find an office near you). This format is ideal for individuals, or where it is not possible for groups of 12 members of one company to be in training in the same week, or if organizations wish to trial the program before a roll-out across the business.


Many of our Open Course participants enjoy the opportunity to work with people from other backgrounds, roles and organizations. We only accept up to three people from each organization onto each Open course, to ensure that a diverse mix of people is represented.


These courses typically run from 6pm Monday evening through until 2pm Thursday for the Advanced program, and 8:30 am Tuesday morning to 5pm Thursday for Next Steps and are intensive, practical and fun. We take a maximum of 12 participants with two Scotwork tutors, which provides for plenty of personal feedback, and delegates will spend 80% of their time in practical activities.

What you will learn on the Scotwork Advanced Negotiation Skills program

 

The course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to manage complex negotiations in a professional, ethical, and competent manner, and to drive better deals in situations where long term relationships and integrity are important. The course allows participants to:

• Understand the structure underlying all negotiations

• Identify the appropriate skills used for negotiations

• Practice these skills in a constructive learning environment

• Deliver a measurable improvement in performance

 

A place on an Advanced Negotiation Open course in the US costs $3060 plus any T&E or facility fees for the participant.



What you will learn on the Scotwork Next Steps  Program

 

The Next Steps course provides participants with an in depth knowledge of the strategic implications of negotiating in long term commercial business relationships. The course is only available to participants who have already been through the Advanced Program with Scotwork, and have since had 6 months to practice the skills learned. The course allows participants to:


•    Reinforce and build upon their negotiating skills


•    Understand new tools for more effective preparation


•    Consider the broader strategic negotiating picture


•    Introduce the "IDEAL diagnostic" to analyze progress in the negotiation


•    Understand buyer and seller behavior patterns to ensure that the correct negotiating strategies are adopted


•    Develop the use of concessions


•    Provide responses to common negotiating tactics


•    Create their own "Next Steps Blueprint"


•    Get personal feedback from the course leaders

 

A place on a Next Steps Open course in the US costs $3630 plus any T&E or facility fees for the participant.
